Simple Training Tips
Goal setting is part of every new year. 2024 goals for Trilogy Training athletes may include starting an exercise program to completing a first (or one or many) Ironman distance triathlon. Once goals are set at at the beginning of January it can be difficult to maintain them - especially when it is cold outside and days are shorter. A few training tips to help meet those training goals include:
Movement benefits health - Completing half of a workout, a short walk, a few flights of stairs or vacuuming your living room are beneficial (especially on a day where light training is recommended). Find a way to move, even if you miss your planned workout.
Take a social media break - Consider a social media/phone scrolling break an hour or so before a planned workout. It has been shown that workouts are stronger if you take this step (this is one I need to try).
Workout early - If able, schedule your workouts for first thing in the morning as you are less likely to skip them. Also, get everything ready the night before (lay out the your workout clothes and nutrition along with your shoes) so that you do not have to think about anything before you head out the door for your workout.
Bribes can work - Reward yourself (or at least plan a reward) if you complete a week of training or finish a hard workout. Rewards can be anything that motivates you from a warm latte for finishing a hard session to a relaxing massage for completing a week of workouts.
Make it fun - Find a way to make a game out of the workout (for example, if the workout includes a two minute interval, try to pick a spot in the landscape that is two minutes away and see how accurate you were).
These are just a few ways to help in meeting 2024 goals. As always, Trilogy Training is here to assist you on your training journey. For help in meeting your specific goals, please contact Trilogy Training via email or the contact link in the website.
